Blackie was one of three youngsters rescued in March 2020. She was being reared for meat along with her friends Hector and Carla. The three chums were spotted by some friends who regularly went to visit and pet them through the fence and they decided to approach the farmer to see if they could save them from being turned into steak. 

There wasn't long to act as the three were approaching the ripe old age of 18 months and were being prepared for their final journey. After lengthy negitiation the farmer agreed to let them come and live at the sanctuary where all three are now happily enjoying their lives. 

Cows can live into their late teens and even early twenties but those destined for the meat industry are usually killed when still very young at 18 months or so :(  If you can spare a few pounds to help Blackie continue to thrive at the sanctuary we would be so very grateful to hear from you - thank you
