Tilly is very comical & is so pleased to be able to wander round the house & garden. Molly is quite a big dog & I was a bit worried about how she would get on with the smaller dogs & especially the cats. It is however working out fine as she is very gentle with them.

Molly frets if she looses Tilly round the house. They like to be together - an unlikely pair they make too !
Molly is one of five German Shepherds living at the Sanctuary. She was rescued along with her friend Tilly the Basset Hound as they were both being kept in a garage with no access to the outside.

As a consequence, neither are house trained and also due to having been staved they have a habit of eating their own business which is not at all pleasant.

Here is Molly with one of her friends !
Here she is relaxing in the lounge.
Germans have a reputation for being or turning nasty, but I have to say that this does not apply to any of the five living at the Sanctuary. I think that reputation has more to do with the way the poor dogs are treated than anything inherent.

I have to say that when it comes to hand feeding treats to the dogs, some are better at taking the food than others - i.e. you have a good chance of being nipped on the fingers with some! & some are more gentle than you can imagine. ALL the Germans are ever so gentle when taking food from your fingers.
