Here is Sam on the day he arrived. He had a long car journey from Huddersfield, but he says it was worth it as now he has a safe home where he will be loved.
He is blind and about 17 years old
His full name is Samuel P Wildebeast
As I type this he is curled up asleep in an armchair !
As a blind Dog, it is very important to not expose Sam to any danger. Even a simple task like crossing a room can be difficult, not because Sam cannot "learn" where the "things in the room" are, but because of all the other guests ! Many of the other Dogs are tolorant of a blind Dog bumping into them, but some are not. Therefore for his own safety Sam lives in a room on his own at night (well we are in there! & so are about 5 Cats at any one time). In the daytime, weather permitting, Sam goes out into an area at the front of the house that is fenced off from the other Dogs. Sometimes his friend Hetti goes out with him & sometimes Dan - sometimes Simon too ! He gets on fine with these Dogs, but with so many in the house & given his condition & age it really is best that he is not exposed to all the other Dogs
