Dan arrived in January 2005 together with his friend Laddie, who sadly is no longer with us.
Dan had lived in Stafford and his owner was having to move into a place that would not let her keep him and so she had been desperately looking for somewhere that would take him in. None of the re-homing charities would look at Dan because at his age he was considered to be too old & the only help the larger charities could offer was euthanasia.
When I was contacted I said I would take Dan and look after him for the rest of his life. Dan was an entire male Dog & so it was necessary for him to be castrated before attempting an integration with "old timers gang".
Dan's operation was successful and he has been living with the Dog Gang happily for the past few years. Dan is getting on a bit now & is not very steady on his feet. This means that at mealtimes it is important that he is fed alone so that I can ensure that there is no "trouble" and that he gets everything he is supposed to
Here is Dan just after that operation. He had to wear one of these collars as he would not leave the stitches alone !
The wound quickly healed & so he only wore it for about a week.
